new favorite website: etsy

i've heard it mentioned in passing but didn't know what it was.  today my friend carrie posted an etsy link on her blog to some christmas stockings she is thinking about buying, so i went there.  it's basically the amazon.com of handmade items and artwork.  

homemade jewelry. hand knitted scarves. photographs. artwork. candles. quilts. stationary.  ohmygoditstoomuchtotakeinallatonceaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

if i were buying christmas presents this year, they would be from there, but i'm taking a "less is more" approach to gift giving this december.  less stressful, less harsh on the pocketbook, and better for the earth.  ALL THAT PACKAGING it's too too much.  i am already dreading all the plastic waste from aislinn's christmas takings.  she's three months old and already living in a world of plastic.  plastic swing, plastic playpen, plastic toys.  can't we just get some good old wooden blocks and a couple of organic cotton onesies?
