the computers were down for a while this morning and everyone was congregating around in the office. the talk turned to politics and two of the secretaries are all "obama is a muslim and he doesn't believe in america and he doesn't salute the flag and he refuses to sing the national anthem and his middle name is hussein and he's just gonna let in all the 'llegals and he don't believe in the bible sweartagod i sawrit on youtube you can lookit up!"
aside from whether you're a republican or democrat, i can't stand there and listen to that kind of absolute drivel. so i walked away.
and then one of the secretaries comes in here just now and is leaning all over my desk and is all, "we didn't make you MAD did we? i just can't vote for hillary, i don't care if she was the last person on earth i blah blah blah and obama i'm just afraid he's gonna get 'sassinated if he gets 'lected 'cause all those people who were raised up wrong and unedgcated and what don't like the blacks and blah blah blah."
THE BLACKS? argh! just shoot me! why do you think i walked away from your conversation?? i am not even going to attempt to engage in a dialogue at that level! so don't follow me into my office and try to continue it!

WOW. I went all logical on a mass email a few weeks ago about Obama and it turned into the biggest ordeal. The girl who originally sent it to me took it all personal that I sent a mass email back to every single one of her friends with a link to snopes.com pointing out that she was full of shit. I mean, who are these people? How do they live in modern society and NOT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THEIR OWN GOVERNMENT? It kills me that youtube and group email is now considered meaningful political dialogue. And we wonder how come we are in a recession right now?!
Oh and btw, I hadn't heard the one about people being worried about Obama getting assassinated due to racism. It's almost funny, except for the fact that probably the people who say it are serious.
I got a forward yesterday that basically said "if they aren't from the US and they didn't support us in the war, then f*ck 'em, and if you don't agree go live somewhere that didn't support the US."
AND it said they should drill in alaska, and if you're an environmentalist and drilling in alaska upsets you then move the eff out. you aren't welcome.
mmmm diatribe. yummy.
don't i know it.
the funny thing is, everyone keeps forgetting that john mccain was born in panama. so if you're going to go that route, he's not american enough for the presidency, either.
*frustration!*
Oh, and I don't know if you back-read any of my blog, but I once had to end my friend's first date with someone because he referred to "colored people." Um, what century is this again?! Kills me every time.
